Windows 95 TCP/IP Configuration

As part of the DSL Internet installation, your Network Control Panel will be configured with your IP address, gateway server and DNS server information. However, we thought it would be helpful to provide you steps for configuring your system should you need to re-configure or if you purchase a new computer.

  1. From the Start menu, choose Settings, then choose Control Panels.
  2. Click on the Network icon.
  3. In the section labeled The following network components are installed, select the TCP/IP item.
  4. Press the Properties button.
  5. Press the IP Address tab.
  6. Verify the correct IP address is entered. This information is listed on your Prime services invoice included with this package.
  7. Press the WINS Configuration tab.

  9. Verify Disable WINS Configuration is selected.
  10. Press the Gateway tab.
  11. Verify the Gateway is entered. This information is listed on your Prime services invoice included with this package.
  12. Press the DNS Configuration tab.
  13. Verify the correct Primary and Secondary DNS is entered. This information is listed on your Prime Services invoice included with this package. Below is a table for your convenience. Please use the addresses shown based on your geographic location.

  15. Press OK twice.
  16. If a message appears prompting Do you want to restart your computer now? press Yes.
  17. If this message does not appear, restart your computer by pressing the Start button, and then choose Shutdown. Make sure the Restart your computer button is selected, and then press Yes.
