Netscape Communicator 4.51 (or higher) Mail and News Preference Configuration for Linux
Note: To access the Netscape Preferences configuration screen, open Netscape Communicator,
click on the Edit menu, then select Preferences from the list of options.
Click on the arrow next to Mail & Newsgroups.
Click on the Identity tab.
Under Your name type in your full name.
Under Email address type in your e-mail address with Pacific Bell Internet Services.
Click on Mail Servers in the column to the left.
Under Outgoing mail (SMTP) server type in mail.pacbell.net
Under Outgoing mail server user nametype in your Pacbell email address substituting a "%" for the "@".
Example: username%pacbell.net
Click on the Add button to configure Incoming Mail Servers.
Click on the General tab. Under Server Name type postoffice.pacbell.net
For Server Type select the POP option.
For User Nametype in your Pacbell email address substituting a "%" for the "@".
Example: username%pacbell.net
If you would like Netscape to remember your mail password, click the box next to Remember password.
If you would like Netscape to automatically check for mail, select the box to the left of Check for mail every then enter the number of minutes you want Netscape to check for new messages.
Click the OK button to exit Incoming Mail Server configuration.
Click on Newsgroups Serversin the column to the left.
Click on the Add button to configure your Newsgroups Servers.
Under Server, enter news.sf.sbcglobal.net or news.la.sbcglobal.net
Under Port, enter 119
Do not select the button to the left of Support encrypted connections (SSL).
Do not select the button to the left of Always use name and password.
Click OK to exit Newsgroups Server configuration.
Click the OK button on the main Netscape Preferences window to complete your Mail and News Preferences Configuration.
Congratulations! Your mail and news settings are entered correctly.
