How to Check your Netscape 3.0 Mail and News Preferences
- To begin checking your mail and news settings double-click on the Netscape
Navigator icon located on your desktop.

- Single-click on Options across the top of the page.

- Go down to Mail and News Preferences and single-click on it.

- Single-click on the Servers tab.

- Under Outgoing mail (SMTP) server type mail.pacbell.net
- Under Incoming mail (POP3) server type postoffice.pacbell.net
- Under POP3 User Name type in your Pacbell email address substituting
a "%" for the "@".
Example: username%pacbell.net
- Leave Mail Directory set to default.
- Set Maximum message size to None.
- Set Messages are copied from the server to the local disk, then:
to Removed from the server.
- If you would like Netscape to check for your mail automatically, you
can place a dot in Check for mail every, then type how often you
want it to check in minutes.
- Under News (NNTP) server type in news.sf.sbcglobal.net
or news.la.sbcglobal.net
- Leave News RC Directory set to default.
- Set Get blank Messages at a Time to 100.
- Single-click on the Identity tab.

- Under Your Name type your full name.
- Under Your Email type your e-mail address with Pacbell.
- Leave Reply to Address blank.
- Under Organization type in Pacific Bell Internet Services.
Note: This is optional, you can leave Organization blank if you wish.
- Leave Signature File blank.
- Single-click on the Organization tab.

- If you would like Netscape to remember your mail password place a check
in Remember Mail Password.

Congratulations! Your mail and news settings are correct.
