How to check your basic mail settings on Eudora light

  1. To begin checking your basic Eudora light settings you must first open Eudora by double-clicking on the Eudora icon usually located on your desktop.
  2. Now single-click on Tools across the top of the page.
  3. Go down to Options and single-click on it.
  4. Make sure you are on the first option called Getting Started.
  5. Under POP account type in your username@postoffice.pacbell.net

  6. Note: Your username is the first part of your e-mail address.
    Example: username@pacbell.net
  7. Under Real name type in your full name.
  8. Under Return address type in your e-mail address with Pacbell.

  9. Example: username@pacbell.net
  10. Under Connection Method place a dot in Winsock (Network, PPP, SLIP).
  11. Single-click on Personal Info.
  12. Under POP account type in your username@postoffice.pacbell.net

  13. Note: Your username is the first part of your e-mail address.
    Example: username@pacbell.net
  14. Under Real name type in your full name.
  15. Under Return address type in your e-mail address with Pacbell.

  16. Example: username@pacbell.net
  17. Leave Dialup username blank.
  18. Single-click on Hosts.
  19. Under POP account type in your username@postoffice.pacbell.net

  20. Note: Your username is the first part of your e-mail address.
    Example: username@pacbell.net
  21. Under SMTP type in mail.pacbell.net
  22. Leave Ph blank.
  23. Leave Finger blank.
  24. Single-click on Checking Mail.
  25. Under POP account type in your username@postoffice.pacbell.net

  26. Note: Your username is the first part of your e-mail address.
    Example: username@pacbell.net
  27. You may choose to have Eudora check for mail automatically by typing in the number of minutes next to Check for mail every.
  28. Do not place a check in Skip messages over
    This option limits your capability to download messages if they are over a specified size.
  29. Place a check in Send on check.
  30. If you would like Eudora to remember your mail password, place a check in Save password.
  31. Do not place a check in Leave mail on server.
  32. Under Determine first unread messages by place a dot in First message not read by this machine.
  33. Under Authentication style place a dot in Passwords.
  34. Single-click on Sending Mail.
  35. Under Return address type in your e-mail address with Pacbell.

  36. Example: username@pacbell.net
  37. Leave Domain to add to unqualified address blank.
  38. Under SMTP server type in mail.pacbell.net
  39. Single-click on Replying.
  40. Nothing in here should be checked.
  41. Congratulations! Your basic mail settings are correct and you should be able to send and receive mail.
