How to create a new account on Macintosh 8.5

1. To begin setting up a new account with Pacbell, double-click on the Macintosh Hard Drive icon located on your desktop.



2. Double-click on the Assistants folder.



3. Double-click on Internet Setup Assistant.



4. Single-click on Yes.



5. Single-click on Yes.



6. Single-click on the Arrow pointing to the right.



7. Under What would you like to name this configuration type in PBI Registration.
8. Leave How will you be connecting to the Internet set to Modem.
9. Single-click on the Arrow pointing to the right.



10. Modem and Port should already have the components of your computer.
11. Under Does your phone line use tone or pulse leave the dot in Tone.
12. Do not place a check in Ignore dial tone.
13. Single-click on the Arrow pointing to the right.



14. Under What is the phone number for this configuration type in 1 800-828-8638.
15. Under What name do you use for this service type in guest1 all in lower case letters.
16. Under Password type in alphaguest00 all in lower case letters.
17. Single-click on the Arrow pointing to the right.



18. Under Does your ISP require that you use a PPP Connect Script when you log in leave the dot in No.
19. Single-click on the Arrow pointing to the right.



20. Under Is there an IP address for this configuration leave the dot in No.
21. Single-click on the Arrow pointing to the right.



22. Under What is the DNS address for this configuration type: 206.13.0.10 on the first line.

Hit the Return key one time and type: 206.13.0.11 on the second.
23. Under What is the Domain Name for this configuration type in pacbell.net
24. Single-click on the Arrow pointing to the right.



25. Leave the next screen blank.
26. Single-click on the Arrow pointing to the right.



27. Leave this screen blank.
28. Single-click on the Arrow pointing to the right.



29. Leave this screen blank.
30. Single-click on the Arrow pointing to the right.



31. Under Do you use proxy servers for Internet connections leave the dot in No.
32. Single-click on the Arrow pointing to the right.



33. Single-click on Go Ahead to connect to the registration server.



34. This screen will appear for a few seconds, once it disappears, or says you're connected, go to the next step.



35. Double-click on the Browse the Internet icon located on your desktop.

Note: When double-clicking on the Browse the Internet icon, you may be prompted by a dialog box that says
Is your computer set up for Internet access simply single-click on Yes.



36. In the Address (location) box type in: ... and hit the Return key.



37. This is Pacbell's online registration web site. Click on New Account and and follow the steps to set up your account with 
    Pacific Bell Internet Services.



Note: Twice during the registration process you will be asked for a "Registration Number" simply single-click on  to continue.

Once you have finished the online registration process you must go back through the Internet Setup Assistant to set up your account. Click here to go to that walk through.
