How to check your mail settings on Outlook 98
- To begin checking your mail settings in Outlook 98 double-click on the
My Computer icon located on your desktop.

- Double-click on the Control Panel icon.

- Double-click on the Mail icon.

- Under The following information services are set up in this profile
highlight the one that you use for your Pacbell e-mail.
- Single-click on Properties.

- Under Name type in your full name.
- Under Organization type in Pacific Bell Internet Services.
Note: This is optional, you don't have to put in anything for Organization.
- Under E-mail address type in your e-mail address with Pacbell.
- Under Reply address type in your e-mail address with Pacbell.
- Single-click on the Servers tab.

- Under Outgoing mail (SMTP) type in mail.pacbell.net
- Under Incoming mail (POP3) type in postoffice.pacbell.net
- Under Acount name type in your Pacbell e-mail address.
Example: username@pacbell.net
- Under Password type in your password with Pacbell.
- Single-click on the Connection tab.

- Under Connection place a dot in Connect using my phone line
if you are using your dial-up account to access the Internet. If you are
using DSL, place a dot in Connect Using My Local Area Network and
skip to step #18.
- Under Use the following Dial Up Networking connection select your
Pacbell connection.
- Single-click on the Advanced tab.

- Under Server port numbers the Outgoing mail (SMTP) should
read 25, the Incoming mail (POP3): 110,
and This server requires a secure connection (SSL) remains
unchecked.
- Set Server timeouts all the way to the right on 5 minutes.
- Do not place a check in Leave a copy of messages on server.
- Single-click on OK.

- Single-click on OK.

Congratulations! Your basic Outlook 98 mail settings are correct.
